Dr. Vigilante has been Director of the University Galleries since 2002. She also serves as campus administrator for Florida's Art in State Buildings program, overseeing committees formed for the selection of public art at the University of Florida. She has 10 years of experience in similar positions managing art galleries and public art projects for the City of Gainesville and Alachua County, as well as in Tallahassee, Florida.

Vigilante has had an extensive work history in arts administration as a consultant. She was a mentor for the Florida Association of Local Arts Agencies, a Regional Arts Consultant for the Florida Department of State's Underserved Arts Community Assistance Program and an Arts Consultant for the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs in Tallahassee, as well as a consultant for many individual projects. As a professional Grant Writer, Vigilante worked for the Public Schools Foundation in Ocala, Florida and the Florida State University Center for Arts Administration in Tallahassee.

Vigilante served as Curator of Exhibitions, Collections, and Education at the Brevard Art Center and Museum in Melbourne, Florida and taught Drawing as an Adjunct Professor at Brevard Community College in Melbourne. Vigilante taught art in many other capacities for over ten years. She was an Adjunct Professor in Art Education at Florida State University and Florida A&M University, an Art Specialist for both Leon County Schools in Tallahassee and for Very Special Arts Florida, and a High School Principal and Art Teacher in Carrabelle, Florida. In Atlanta, Georgia, Vigilante was an Elementary Art Teacher for Fulton County Public Schools.

Dr. Vigilante has served on numerous boards of directors and statewide committees. She is a founding Board member of the Florida Association of Public Art Administrators. As a practicing artist, Vigilante has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows, and has received several awards as well as a State of Florida Individual Artist's Fellowship. She has served as a juror for over 100 art shows in the southeast.
