Cedar Key FloridaCedar Key is composed of a group of barrier islands located in the Big Bend area of west Florida. West of Gainesville, North of Tampa and South of the Suwannee River, it’s an easy and pleasant day trip from metropolitan areas such as Orlando, Jacksonville, Ocala and Tarpon springs. It also has Lewis Airport, used by many private plane owners. Come by land, sea or air -- Cedar Key is worth the trip!

Sparkling water and ecologically important and fascinating marsh lands surround a small and colorful community of fishermen and artists. We’re sure you’ll love our little island and its peaceful pleasures as much as we do: birding, dolphin sighting, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, fishing, and of course sampling our world-renowned clams and local fresh seafood.

Cedar Key also has a fascinating and fabled history which can be glimpsed at the Historic Society, the State Museum, a downtown walking tour and boat excursions to our isolated islands where cedar industries once flourished and pirates hid their booty. We are also home to historically significant Tabby Construction buildings, circa 1860.

This very special setting is home to our Spring Art Celebration. An event that has been held for over forty years, it has now returned as a Juried Art Show, bringing in a selection of extremely talented artists. We guarantee you’ll be thrilled to experience such a talent pool and to have the opportunity to purchase their one-of-a-kind works.

Flordia Art ShowIn 2007 alone, the artists received $10,000.00 in booth awards and $9,500.00 in Purchase Prize money! Such impressive funding means that we draw top talent from far and wide.

Our show is also a true “community affair”, with input and hard work by the Chamber of Commerce, a citizens and artists committee, the Cedar Key Art Center, and a hard-working and talented group of volunteers.

Artists! Watch for this space for the show application.

Visitors! Make a date with Cedar Key and enjoy sauntering down main street while enjoying fine art from a very select group of incredibly talented artists. All this while taking in tasty fresh local seafood from our casual and fine dining seaside restaurants, and beautiful coastal scenery in this unforgettable Old Florida setting.

Take a step “off the beaten path” and join us in experiencing life on "Cedar Key Time!
